Yesterday was our one year anniversary in this new city and new phase of life. So much has happened in the past year, it is almost hard to imagine it has only been a year while at the same time it seems as though time has flown by. I can't help but think how much God has reminded us of our dependenc on him, our need of him, and how much he is worthy of our total trust and affection. This year has been filled with challenges: new place/new adjustments, different style of life, crazy schedules, church hunting, grad school, etc. However, he has never let us go and he has continued to show his face to us even on our darkest days.
Some of things we have experienced in the past year:
* Grad school schedules (that don't match, lots of studying/reading/quizzing/practicing)
* Humidity (like 1000% on most days and a nice day or two of 92%)
* People freaking out in the rain
* People freaking out and closing schools over less than an inch of snow (it was even on the news)
* Astros game
* Lots of walks on the beach
* Driving on the beach
* Fireworks on the beach
* Seafood in every sort (especially when family is in town)
* Traffic (rubbernecking, mystery traffic, morning traffic)
* Random rain showers
* Killer mosquitoes
* Having two of the best people in the world to join us on this journey (So thankful for the McCoys and God opening that door on August 5, 2009)
* Meeting an amazing Godly couple through grad school (Jake and Shea, consistently have been a breath of fresh air for us.)
* Seeing baby frogs after heavy rainstorms
* Visiting a ton of Churches (Seriously, we could make an area map)
It has been a great/hard/lesson packed year, it is great to see God's hand in every step even the really hard ones and the really amazing ones. He has made true in our hearts that He is the Father of Mercies and the God of all Comfort. My prayer for this next year is that we would remain steadfast and immovable in our Hope in the Lord and that we would abound in His work and not lose heart. Pray that we would completely surrender to our need and dependence on Him.
